Unidentified Newari painter
The paubha was made for the Newar Buddhist Laksha Chaitya ritual in the Kathmandu Valley. Its inscription records the ceremony, while the painting includes a priest and sponsoring group. The artist is unknown, but the connection with collective ritual patronage survives.
