Hirschfeld Workshop

This conventional name identifies an Athenian workshop of the Geometric period. Large painted vessels used as grave markers are attributed to it. Mourning scenes accompany processions of warriors and chariots. Pattern and repeated figures organise the vessel's surface and connect the funeral with the deceased's social position.
