Zhao Mengjian

Zhao Mengjian belonged to the Song imperial family and practised calligraphy and painting. He became particularly known for his narcissus paintings. Fine ink lines describe bending leaves with movements akin to writing. Works of this kind gave flower painting a more prominent place in the art of scholars and writers.
