Willem Claesz Heda

Heda lived and worked in Haarlem. He helped develop tonal still life, using a restricted range of colours and close relationships between shades. Highlights on metal, glass and cloth gained particular importance. The limited palette distinguished materials through light, reflections and the application of paint.
