Rogier van der Weyden
1399/1400–1464
Rogier moved from Tournai to Brussels in 1436 and became the city's painter. Patrons included Philip the Good and John II of Castile. His large workshop produced devotional pictures and diptychs, and his compositions continued to be emulated in the sixteenth century.
