Qian Xuan

After the Mongol conquest of Hangzhou in 1276, Qian Xuan remained loyal to the fallen Song dynasty and did not enter the new rulers' service. His landscapes revived older blue-and-green painting. This choice connected his work with a cultural inheritance made vulnerable by the change of power.
