Matsumura Goshun

Goshun was born into a family of government-mint officials and studied painting with Yosa Buson. He spent several years as a Buddhist monk in Ikeda. In 1787 he joined the circle of Maruyama Okyo in Kyoto. Shijo Street, where his home and studio stood, gave its name to a school of painting.
